Don’t bite or chew your nails and cuticles. This is a given, but it’s amazing how many people do this and then wonder why their nails are so unhealthy. Your nails grow up from your cuticles, so keeping your cuticles healthy is a good way to make sure your nails are healthy as well.

Drink lots of water. Drinking water will keep your body and your skin hydrated. Healthy skin and healthy nails go hand in hand. If you are well hydrated your nails will not be so dry and brittle.
