What is the Best Cuticle Remover?

cuticle remover

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been fighting terrible cuticles for my entire life. I’m always looking for the best products to keep them in great condition, and as a result, I’ve tried a lot of different cuticle products over the years. Products that actively work to remove cuticles are my favorite because they’re a safe way to soften and get rid of all the dead skin responsible for horrendous looking fingers and nails.

Using a cuticle remover will help loosen dead skin and help create a clean bed for a manicure. A cuticle softener and remover will also help make it easier to maintain your cuticles over time, so that they’re always in the best shape. If you’re looking for a safe way to get rid of dried out, damaged cuticles, this is it. Here are some of my favorites, and hopefully some will become yours too.

CND Cuticle Away

Cuticle Away is definitely the best cuticle remover product you can get your hands on. It’s a concentrated formula that has a creamy consistency and it’s formulated with aloe vera to prevent nails from drying out. The liquid gel dissolves into the dead skin around the nail and then you’re able to painlessly and quickly push back the cuticle.

All you have to do is rub it onto your nails and let it sit for a minute. Once the product has done its magic, simply push the cuticles back with an orange stick or a cuticle pusher. The dead skin will come away and cuticles will neatly push back, leaving behind nothing but a clean base and a smooth edge. This stuff comes in a huge bottle, so it’ll last you a long time. You also won’t need to use a lot of the product on the nails, so that’s another huge plus. Overall this is the best way to get beautiful salon results at home. [Buy it here]

Deborah Lippmann Cuticle Remover

Deborah Lippmann makes some of my favorite nail products and her cuticle remover is fabulous as well. This cuticle remover is a fast-acting, exfoliating treatment that will gently loosen and remove the dry skin around the cuticle. When you’re finished using it, your nails will look healthier than they ever have before. The size of the bottle is not as impressive as the CND Cuticle Away. It’s the size of a regular nail polish bottle, but you don’t need to use a lot to get the job done. In fact, I’m still using a bottle I purchased about 8 months ago.

This remover works very quickly and it’s very gentle. It doesn’t sting or leave redness behind. You can apply it in two ways – either with the brush or with the eyedropper that is also included. When you’re all done, just wash the product away and use a towel to buff off dead skin. This one is really good for anyone who has cuticles that are very difficult to work with because the skin is tough or if your cuticles seem to grow overnight. [Buy it here]

Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover

Sally Hansen’s cuticle removing cream is a great and effective way to get your cuticles in tip top shape. It dissolves dry cuticles in only 15 seconds, making it one of the fastest working cuticle removers around. It also contains aloe and chamomile to condition and smooth out your nails, leaving you with a cuticle edge that is not only soft, smooth and attractive, but moisturized as well. Even the toughest, most overgrown cuticles can easily be wiped away using this. If you find that absolutely nothing else has been working for you, this is definitely the one to try out. Butter London Melt Away Cuticle Eliminator

Butter London’s Melt Away may not be the best product for those who have seriously ratty and unruly cuticles, but it is a wonderful option for someone who needs something for general upkeep of good nails. This cuticle remover takes a bit longer than the others to get working, at about 5 minutes. It gently exfoliates, only removing the dead skin and providing softer, less overgrown cuticles. It’ll help lift away skin that seems to be permanently connected to the nail bed. This one doesn’t live up to the title. It doesn’t literally melt away the cuticles, but it does make managing them a whole lot easier. [Buy it here]

Cutique Cuticle Remover

Cutique by Orly has a gentle formula that will remove cuticles while conditioning the nail plate. Additionally, it helps nails have an even cleaner look by removing stains and discoloration. This remover is well worth the price because you won’t have to use a lot on your fingers. One bottle could last for several years. All you have to do is let it sit for about 2 minutes, then you’ll be able to push back softened cuticles while dead skin can be effortlessly, and painlessly removed. [Buy it here]

CND Nail Cuticle Eraser

CND makes the cut twice because their nail products really are magnificent. This is the best cuticle remover cream because it is hydrating, promotes silky, smooth hands, and gets rid of hangnails. The rough edges that form around your nails due to unhealthy cuticles will be eliminated.

Being able to use this on a daily basis is what really sets this cuticle softener cream from the rest. You can use it regularly on on thick cuticles, It’s creamy, but not oily, and you can apply it and leave it on. [Buy it here]

Blue Cross Cuticle Remover

Don’t be turned off by this product’s ugly, clinical looking packaging. It’s still considered the best nail cuticle remover by many. This cuticle softener and remover will get rid of dead tissue, and leave your cuticles softened and ready to be pushed back. You can get a really massive bottle for an inexpensive price, although unless you own a salon, it’s probably safe to get one of the smaller options.

This one has a watery consistency, however it’s very strong and effective. It’ll start working in less than a minute after it’s applied. Once it’s activated you can rub off dead skin with a cotton pad or push back your cuticles and then wash away the product with warm water when you’re finished. Voila, beautiful fingers without a trip to the salon. [Buy it here]

Any of the products on this list would be an exceptional choice for getting your cuticles under control. Combine a remover with regular use of a cuticle cream or oil for even better results.
